Process

  1. Build a character
  2. When to use

Character

Designing a character can be a challenge. It is important to think through how the audience will relate to the character depending on the choices you make; for example how realistic does he need to be? What is the most effective environment?

The build itself can be accelerated by starting from the models provided by Adobe in the product itself. The new addition of the Characterizer function looks to be a game changer as it enables cartoon characters to be easily captured by filming a real person.

Use

This is such a great tool to have in your bag when video is needed but people are reluctant to appear in front of the camera (I get that, I really do). Character Animator is often the answer. People are intrigued to voice their own cartoon character and tend to leap into the process. Another advantage of the cartoon is that overacting and exagerration are actually a benefit to the outcome.
